Default Stiffer Rear

Most of the time the truck is used to haul stuff such as a Quad. Sometimes i tow a trailer with a car. I hate the way the rear sags under the load such as quad. I think its a little too soft for me. Any way to make my rears stiffer without spending lots of buck?

Add-a-leaf, extra leaf from another set of springs, new springs, ect. The information is in the modifications sticky.

you can also add air shocks. Mine has that and I've hauled over 1000lb of bricks one time (I also have 3/4 ton leaf springs).

you could get 1500 springs, i have been askin around hear on what springs from different models will work, you can use the 1500 or 2500 springs but will have to be the same size leafs as the dak, the 2500 will give you lift in the back though, i dont know if you want that or not

that is so very true, the back end of my truck sits about 2.5 to 3 inches taller than the front, I've been trying to lift the front of my truck, just haven't had the time & money.

Your door tag should list the rear axle rating, which will tell you what spring rating you have.
I think the max for daks is 3000# which is maximum because the axle itself then becomes the limiting factor.....so if you have one of the smaller numbers, you can go shopping in the yards for a set of heavier springs. I have been under lots of dakotas, never seen a set of 3000#, but according to the factory brochure, it was an option for 1995 at least...
I have a chart somewhere that shows leaf lengths for the 2 shorter leafs, the heavier the load rating, the longer the leafs.

BTW, pretty sure that only 3 mopar vehicles had front segment main leaf length of 24", FMJ cars, ramcharger, and dakota. Ramcharger has shortest REAR segment length, then dak, then FMJ.
I wouldn't be getting leafs from FMJ cars, unless from the latest years, 88/89.
Of course, you can always get them long, and cut to suit your needs....

Air shocks as in Air Filled shock absorbers or those air bags?

No the truck is a 2WD so i wouldn't want the rear to be lifted. So if i put in Ram 1500 leaf springs it will be stiffer?
