here is the thread i started about the pump issues.

I had the meter set to 20 Volts Max DC.
Thanks for the reply.
Agreed. Now the question. What's causing it?
I MAY have not had a good connection because, as always, production line quick connects aren't attachment for testing friendly.
At least it seems that way to me. The wire I used to jump to the meter beside the door (so I could watch...working alone) was a little thick in my opinion. So I'm not sure if it was a socketed contact in the connector.
What I did see consistently is number change when I hit the switch, but only like 1 volt or less. (Didn't write it down.)
I don't know or can't say it's a wiring break or resistance issue yet. More testing tomorrow.
I also read in another forum that the sensor in the distributor will keep the computer/ASD from allowing current to the fuel pump if it is bad or out of range.
Opinions?
Thanks.

ok do this:

that way you are bypassing all the wiring from the battery to the pump. see if that makes any difference and be careful, lol. you can use pin 6 as the ground too. i just drew the ground wire in 4 cuz thats where the pen ended up.

Thanks. I'll jump into it again tomorrow and see what I can get going.
A thread drift or note to whom it may concern:
This is the slowest and most difficult Forum I've ever participated in regarding the software or server performance. That's not blame or anything. Just a report. It just turns, and turns, and turns....waiting to post or reload. Pretty sure it is NOT on my end as all other Forums I've encountered using various versions of Vbulletin almost never encounter problems such as this. I can fly on them. It's possible you may have more users or advertisers causing this. Frustrating though.
I do want to note that I am still very appreciative for this Forum though.
Hope that was constructive.

Ok, here's what I have happening if anyone can help.
The truck will sometimes start/run and sometimes not. There is no rhyme or reason too it. Temperature, long trip. short trip, or anything like that.
Sometimes the pump would "whir" at startup, and sometimes not. Obviously, when it didn't, it would not start and run.
Go out some other time. Start and run fine. When running and driving it never seemed starved for fuel either. Even if you floored it.
I replaced the pump as I have been told this randomness start symptom is often the pump.
Put the cable on, hit the switch, hear the whir, all good.
Put the tools away....go hit the switch, no whir, no run.
There is something that I think is important that I'm not sure what to do about. The "whir" of the pump (when things are working right) is a certain amount of time when you turn the switch on. Maybe 2 to 3 seconds. When I have a situation of "no whir", I get a click back there underneath, consistently, at about the 2 to 3 second mark.
Questions:
How do you test the Auto Shut Down relay?
How do you test the Fuel Pump relay?
Thanks for any ideas. I got to get this truck rolling.
