Whats the cheapest easiest way to lift my dakota?

And if posting links remember i live in sweden so its very time consuming to order something from the states,so if there are any parts that maybe fit other cars or some other parts that i can buy where it would be easier.

Ive read the faq but i cant tell wich way is the easiest and cheapest,,my Dakota is 2wd 1990 v6

crank the bars and add blocks in the back i think its like 1 1/2 2 inch of lift. then buy a 2 inch body lift. or a unerseral 3 inch body lift

add a leafs would be my recommendation for the rear, you can get up to 2 inches with them and better than blocks, and there only 80 bucks so there not to expensive

"cranking the bars" aka adjusting the stock torsion keys.

I have a DIY for Rams, but the procedure is the same:

2WD's don't have torsion bars guys! The cheapest way would to be to look into a body lift for the truck. Not a whole lot of options in terms of lifting a 2WD

Just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of lifting a 2wd? I can see lifting my 4wd because I always get my *** end stuck in mud when going through ditch like terrain, and need that extra clearance. But I don't imagine you're doing too much off-roading in a 2wd.

For me when I had my 2wd the purpose for lifting a 2wd is to get it taller. I didn't like the look of a 2wd where it looked like it was already lowered. I didn't want to pretend it was a 4wd by lifting just to look better.

As for the OP question the cheepest way for the front is to add coil spacers above and/or below the coil springs. www.summitracing.com 1in is $15 each you can fit 2 per side. 2in lift.
For the rear add a leaf springs www.summitracing.com $80 for a kit for both sides 2-3in.

Body lift for 2in www.summitracing.com $100 or less 2in front and rear.

FAQ2
2wd
You can use the 2in body kit. It says only for 4wd, but It will work for 2wd. All you need to do is cut in a 1 inch spacer for you steering shaft. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PRA%2DPA%2D64 2&N=700+%2D59186+%2D59416+%2D42535+115&a ut oview=sku

For the front you can get coil spacers. Use one on top and one on the bottom for 2in lift. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

http://store.fatbobsgarage.com/share...t=products.asp

If you got a V6 you can get V8 coils to give you an inch or so or custom coil springs. Ebay.com may have some.

For the rear, you can use shorter spring shackles.

Or flip your shackle hangers. Check out https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen-...with-pics.html
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen-...ut-blocks.html https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen-...le-hanger.html

Add a leaf too.

You can also do a spring over axle swap. But this will add around 5 inches of lift just for the back. After a SOA swap, you can use lift blocks. Sizes are available from 1 inch - 6 inches.

You can get air shocks too. These are not air bags. So you don't need an on-board compressor.

So all in all, like I said, the cheapest route would be a body lift.

And I've put my 2WD through more than I've seen most 4x4's get through. The 4x4's got added weight of a transfer case, extra diff, etc. A 2WD doesn't sink as fast. Only downfall is you have to be pulled out if you get stuck. But chances are good that if the 2WD has to be pulled out, so does the 4x4 because it got stuck first.
