Angry Dealership says no dice.....

Hey all,

I am new to the forum, and had a question on an LSD for the 92 dakota (2wd, v6, reg cab).

I called the dealership and they said they had discontinued making LSD's for this year/model, but then said if I could find one, they would put it in for $500.

I think my rear end is only 7.25 (although there is no plate on it or in the glove box where some folks have suggested it might be.

Does anyone know where/if you can buy an LSD for this truck?

Not sure if the 2wd trucks where stock with 7.25 or if they had an option of the 8.25 rear end. the easiest way would be to have the dealership look up what rear end you have based off the vin #. Not to many options out there for the 7.25.

If it ends up being the 7.25, how difficult is a swap to 8.25?

If you send me a pm with the last 9 of the vin and mileage, I can tell you what you have.

AWSOME!!! Thank you so much. Finding an LSD should be a snap now, any suggestions? (I had the powertrax LSD in mind)

What does the "incomplete recall" mean? Im presuming Im 20 years to late. lol.

Recall's are lifetime, It is a safety recall and there should be no charge. If have a question about a recall or recalls, there is a member on this forum that goes by the user name dodgecares. This member is an employee with chrysler and he may have the answer.

Powertrax doesn't make LSDs, they make lockers.

The PowerTraxx isn't very streetable. I know a lot of guys with Jeeps who have them and you might as well just weld the spiders if you're gonna do a PowerTraxx, cause it's gonna ride about the same around corners.

Do an Auburn Gear LSD, I had one in my 2nd Gen Ram and currently have one in my 3rd Gen. They work like they should, hooks up when you need it and you don't even know you have it when you don't.

Oh and $500 is ridiculous to install a LSD. My local shop charges $600 for an Auburn LSD with installation and the unit is about $450 of that price...

I was able to find and download a pfd showing a complete parts list of my 94 V6 dakota but am having trouble finding it , try this link, http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/vi...FZF-5QodSGHx6g

Here is another link https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-c...uild-sheet.htm

Try this search in Google web site search box this worked for me (auto build sheet for 1994 Dakota) click on the 1st results it shows a couple ways to find your info
