Best for the money is a 5.9 with a strocker kit.
#13
Eh...I would too hahaha. No offense to anyone that owns a Mustang (especially since you're on this forum, therefore you're cool haha) but 99% of people I know that own a Mustang are straight douchebags and only own it to say "I drive a Mustang."
#14
Also don't forget the Camaro guys, just the same. And they all say ya it has the V8, but they can't say what size. LOL thats how you know it has a V6.
#16
Thats funny, the Fox body guys in my area are usually cool, especially when it comes to mopar, it's the GM guys that are dicks, and anyone with a hondahatersinc sticker
BTW, a fox body is about the easiest car made to make fast, and factory they run mid 15's with a V8 while your dakota will run about 17, maybe a bit under. I couldn't find specs on the manual transmission.

yeaa, hes a MAJOR douche. i pull up next to him and hes all "wtf is that piece a **** doin here!?" and when i start talkin he just revs the **** out of it and squeels off. i catch up to him and he cuts me off and damn near hits me. at the local spot were all the motor heads of all sorts meet and talk **** and race, hes king. miles of camaros, hondas and poopstangs just like his. im reppin the ONLY dakota. i gotta show this punk the true potensial of the only small truck with a factory v8! now you guys are telling me its impossible with 2500!?!? and dude who despises lowered trucks, relax ya salty tart. i just wanna confirm it from more than one that in fact the 360 will bolt up, cuz it seams everybodys got a different answer. but i'll take your word for it seeing that your rig's got one. so thank you, so sorry ya had to tell me 3 ****in times. im pretty sure you'll live. ANYWAYS. im reading the faq page and doin my own google searches and im still scratching my head. im simply asking for a nut-shell this is what you buy this is were you go stratagy guide from you mopar gurus. i can figure out how to tear it all down and put it together. so far from what i've read its all about machining, new pistons, crank and rods. my imagination is saying that right there is over 2500 bones. i read some article that said something about 360 heads working nicely too. i want to avoid machine shops. i want everything to be bolt-on, in my garage, by myself wrenchin. i geuss from what your saying, shelbyfan, that d-bags car runs 15 seconds to my dirtbag dodge's 17. figure in his exhaust kit i'll give 'im 14 seconds. and figure in the 200k miles on my lowly neglegted bastard child ugly duckling 318, 18 seconds. so to make up that 4 second gap just to keep up with the d-bag, the 300hp goal turns into 400. w/e, the more the marrier right!? idk, maybe its just all to overwhelming to the novice that i am, or maybe its just that im just looking up the wrong guides. none of which run with my strict budget of 25 hundo. could i maybe find a ready to go 360 that'll drop in and give me that 4 seconds i need for 2500? i need somebody to tell me:
you need to go here
and there
and here
and there
and buy this
and that
and this
and that
and put it together
and boom
get to see poopstang d-bag cry

I already told you what to buy, a 5.9 with a stroker kit and a supercharger. That will kill that Mustang and make him poop in his pants.
Or
Heck Mopar Action did a 5.9 swap on a 96 Dakota. TONS of info on lots of performance parts part numbers, race times ect. Read it all before replying back. Follow what they did exactly if you want.
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...swap-pics.html
We could list what you need to buy, but it all depends on your wallet and your plans. If you don't want to do the research on what you want to buy, I suggest go to your local Dodge Dealership parts department and buy everything Mopar Performance offers. You can search their website as well.
Or call up www.summitracing.com and they will setup a list for you.
Or call up www.hughesengines.com and they will set you up a list.
or www.jegs.com
As for what to buy, buy all of these. Which can be bought at the sites listed above.
As well as these
So there you go I told you you need to go here
and there
and here
and there
and buy this
and that
and this
and that
and put it together
and boom
get to see poopstang d-bag cry!!!!!!!
Don't forget to post up pics and videos.
Also www.youtube.com is a great resource to find out how well all the performance parts work.

Factory Computer Reflashes
There are very little for Dodge OBD1.
The best would be a Mopar performance computer. You can get them at http://www.mopar.com/performance/index.html or http://www.summitracing.com/
Jet chips has a plug in. It has been cheep quality and not worth it for most. http://www.jetchip.com/
You can get http://www.hypertech.com/Products/Po...uning%20Module (No reviews yet)
Here is one that flashes and can give you a handheld unit. http://www.bgperformancepcm.com/#magnum
At once this site had it listed but the site seems to be down now. http://nrar.com/
You can Also get get a multi-processor-driven signal manipulator that goes in-line between your engine and ECU.
http://www.unichip.us/dodge.asp
Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road Magazine did an article on it.
