Same thing it will not work. Just buy a rebuild kit, I'm sure a transfercase rebuild kit is still lower than a used one. And since your willing to tare it apart your set. Same thing the FAQ has the service manual which has a transfercase section.

 

alright thanks, i need a front cover becasue mine is blow. From what i read the np 231 J or C just has different input and output shafts. I was wondering about the gears and stuff.



my plan is to frankenstein the two case im hoping my current one is not totally done. I cant get the front shaft apart becasue i keep forgetting the wd-40 and the bolts wont turn.

 

got it out had to weld a wrench on the bolt.
