What gives better performance?
1995 Dodge Dakota SLT 3.9L V6 automatic 2wd
What can I replace or add to get better throttle response and performance?
Let's say some parts haven't been replaced in the past few years, what usually causes slight or drastic performance issues?

Gain 2 more cylinders
... Personally I'm about to change the o2 sensor, MAP sensor, remove and clean the throttle body (also replacing the $4 gasket on that obviously) and replace the air filter with a K&N these alone should help performance and MPG's but I highly suggest you read the FAQ it has all the tune up ideas https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...e-manuals.html
In the FAQ it says the Autolite 3923 was the best performance.
Has anyone tried the E3 DiamondFIRE spark plugs?

The reviews made me want to try them.

Get an intake made up and get a better flowing muffler, that should help some. As far as acceleration you could always upgrade to higher gears. Affordable if 2wd expensive as f*ck if you have a 4wd.

I hated my 3.9 till I put in a performance chip. Power, and gas mileage increased considerably.

I was looking at performance chips Here yesterday. Is this what you have?
Just make your own intake out of whatever your intake size is out of PVC and paint it. It works just as good as the expensive kits do for a fraction of the cost. Muffler wise thats up to you. Do you want quiet or loud?
