Well i bought the spectre max flow air cleaner today. I noticed it had a drop base when i looked at it and knew i was gonna have to modify something to bring it up above the throttle linkage. So when i got back i removed my stock air cleaner and cut the bottom out of the lower section. Now with the stock flange you can put that piece into the bottom of the spectre base. NOTE: there is a small gap between the 2 halfs. I took a old plastic tub and it fit right into the bottom of the stock flange. I then used black RTV to make a smooth path for air going into the throttle bod and it also lifts the spectre base high enough to clear the throttle linkage. Notice i cut the plastic at a angle so the back sat higher. I also picked up a mounting rod for the top of the cleaner. I had to cut it down about 1 to 2 inches. I will be posting pictures of the whole procedure in order hopefully.

LOL Nice fix. Does it seal all the way around?

Ya it was too deep, the K&N kit for the Magnums are way less inverted. Here is mine it is a little beat up due to use.

Yeah it sealed really good after i cut the piece to go between the stock flang and the spectre flang. Even with my exhaust being loud( flowmasters) you can still hear the engine sucking alot of air when you get on it hard. I also bought the matching crankcase breather to match since the spectre air cleaner doesn't have a tube to run the hose from the stock crankcase breather.ill have that pic up soon. I had to modify a tube coming out of valve cover to get to sit up like i wanted it.
