A500 hydraulic lockup vs a500 electronic lockup
My truck 94 longbed slt dakota 3.9 v6 with a500 overdrive
My trans took a dump converter failed and overdrive dead I knew it was coming so I had been hunting and researching trans swaps. I thought I had it all under controll. But then after I got my replacment trans and took my existing out I noticed a difference in one of the connectors. I did some research and found that my existing trans had been a vaccume/hydraulic controled lock up and this new one is electronic controlled.
What options do I have to make this trans work in my truck.
Help please I am stuck here with my truck in the air trans out new ready to go in and no idea what to do next Ohh btw this has caused me to miss out on camping at and going to the Indy500 for the first time in 14 years

So the 94 is is hydraulic controll and the 95 is electronic from what I can tell.
The 94 has the 3pin solenoid connector and the new trans 95 has the round 6(i think)pin connector.
Can I just change the valve body to a hydraulic controlled along with the solenoid.
Or do I get a new engine wiring harness and ecm?
Or do I just try to find another trans with the 3 pin to use?

find the right tranny. depending on where you are located I might be interested in the old one, for "parts" as a core.
I have a 94 that just killed the tranny. V6, A-500. I have a 93 CC 318 truck, that had a dead 518 in it. I put a manual (5 speed) into the 93.
the 94 killed the OD unit 2nd time in 14K miles. the plan now is to rebuild the 518 and put it in the 94 behind the 6 cyl.
I took the OD unit off the 518, took it apart, and checked it all out and put it onto the A500 front section. When the 500 died, reverse was "iffy", but "there". Now that I have the other OD unit on, it has all 4 forward gears again as well or better than ever. but now "no" reverse.
So the 500 will come out and both A/Ts I have will be torn down and rebuilt (I need another OD unit so that I can have 2 complete trannys again) and which ever one is left over will go under the bench for now.

Thanks crazy
my next question is.
I found an a500/46rh from a v6 ram is there anything I need to change with that?
Is it true that I can direct swap an a500/42rh (my dead trans) with an a500/46rh?
Such as from a durango or ram 2wd?
Is is a direct swap or should I just keep hunting an a500/42rh?
