Default Magnum engine builds

Hey guys ive been looking around trying to find some articles on different magnum engine builds but not coming up with much. You see alot of the older LA engine builds but not the magnum series. If anyone has a link to a magnum build please post it. From stock budget builds to all out crazy power builds on the 5.2 and 5.9. If we can all post any and all info on those builds then im sure Crazy can move to FAQS since the info and builds are a little hard to come by.

That sounds like a good idea, look forward to seeing the replies here. We have a 5.9 sitting on the floor right now.

Right now all the builds I've seen they end up sticking a carburetor on it after they're done. If you make the engine breathe better there is no way to tune the computer. The best you can do is up the fuel pressure to get the more fuel you need but you can only do that on the '92-'93 return systems. Or convert to a '96 OBD II computer and wiring harness and then you can get one of those tuners you plug into the OBD II connector. There is a guy over on Turbo-Mopar.com that has cracked the codes for the four cylinder SMEC and SBEC but he said the code is more complex for the SBEC II and the V-8 calibrations so it's going to take him awhile. Once that gets done the temptation to turbo or supercharge my truck is going to be hard to resist. Right now I'll just have to stick with my '88 turbo-charged mini-van that's soon going to be getting an '04 Neon SRT-4 2.4 turbo engine.

Running these engines on MS3X isn't all that hard or expensive.

Yes there is. B&G tunes them, its in the FAQ2 along with all of this you can do with the computer and timing and the fuel injection. So messing with the fuel pressure is not the only thing you can do.

Factory Computer Reflashes

There are very little for Dodge OBD1.

The best would be a Mopar performance computer. You can get them at http://www.mopar.com/performance/index.html or http://www.summitracing.com/

Jet chips has a plug in. It has been cheep quality and not worth it for most. http://www.jetchip.com/

You can get http://www.hypertech.com/Products/Po...uning%20Module (No reviews yet)

Here is one that flashes and can give you a handheld unit. http://www.bgperformancepcm.com/#magnum
At once this site had it listed but the site seems to be down now. http://nrar.com/

You can Also get get a multi-processor-driven signal manipulator that goes in-line between your engine and ECU.

Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road Magazine did an article on it.

What do you consider "not that expensive?" I already have the stuff to do the chips in the factory computer in my '88 van with an '89 SMEC. So if I have to hold out a little longer then that's fine. My truck runs, pulls, and tows great with the 5.9, kegger mod, 52mm TB, and 5.2 computer with more fuel pressure. So I don't NEED to do any more. It'll leave more funds for my van, for now.

You can buy a tune but you can't do it yourself. I'm a D.I.Y.er. Most tunes that I've seen tune on the rich side to cover their own a** to cut down on the potential of going lean and melting a piston (at least for boosted applications). There are a lot of good tuners out there. But the best way to do it is to have the vehicle on a dyno or do some pulls down the track. Every vehicle is different and it's hard to get a one size fits all tune to be the best for your vehicle.

Around $600 plus a wideband. Pretty competitive with an OBD2 swap with SCT or a carb swap.
