Angry Computer Reset Symptoms!?

I can't figure this out can anymore make any sense of this? Whenever I disconnect my battery and then re-connect the truck drives weird for a few days. To clarify it is a 1988 3.9L

I granny foot a lot; just enough to start moving, I play with that line on my acceleration. The truck will ever so slightly hesitate/pulse/jump forward, even if my foot is steady on the gas it will act like an injector is clogged or something but ONLY when using like I said maybe 1/8 throttle. It almost feels weak when coming to a stop too quickly too like as if it's going to stall but VERY slightly, I can't even decifer if it's me or not because my stereo is always so loud but if it is doing it then it's related to the computer reset.

If memory serves me right, after you reset the computer. The truck has to "re learn" everything in a way, make sense?

Yeah I was looking into it, I got this quote:

"Its perfectly normal. Powertrain computers (even the early ones) have some parameter learning capability, and they perform better after you drive a bit. If you disconnect the battery the learned data is erased and it has to start over."

Now I'm curious what kind of adjustments it applys to the motor to compensate for this particular problem. I hope out of some miracle it improves my gas mileage and adjusts something for probably double airflow (I replaced a very, VERY old and dirty air filter last week)

Thank you for your answer to my question though!

i agree they do have to go through a certain number of start/drive cycles to make adjustments...i'm going thru the same thing with my jeep grand cherokee...everytime i reset the computer (because i'm always working on it-disconnected negative battery terminal), it runs like s%$t until the computer "figures things out" then it's back to normal (until i have to replace another part(

Angry

When I left work yesterday I was kinda pissed and layed a strip (truck was warmed up first) and now it runs even worse haha. It must have taken some readings during that petal to the floor session because the easy takeoff now is even more pulsating and rhythmic, and the truck DEFF wants to stall when coming to a stop. Not only does it sound and feel bad for my engine its probably also chugging gas inefficiently right now!

My truck won't idle for a bit after I reset the computer. It's done that ever since I swapped to a manual.

If it has an erratic idle, Try cleaning or replacing the IAC.

Retry resetting the comp, unplug batt an leave it for awhile. Come back and plug back up, let idle for a bit. Drive normal for atleast a week and hopefully it will fix it

Replaced IAC and TPS when I did the swap. Idle isn't really erratic just none. After its been started a few times it is okay. Think the pcm is angry about no transmission sensors.

It went away a few days later something like 10-20 miles. I hope my new 5.9L Magnum computer will be a bit more efficient when I do the swap.
