We aren't ignoring you, we just don't know. It might, tho. Or might be adaptable. Depends on what engine you have and what engine was in front of the 2000 trannie.
12 years is a long time in automotive years--if you can't figure it out by eyeballing it, I think I'd keep on looking.
I wouldn't change over to an automatic, either. That looks like it would be a pain in the butt!

I don't know whether the 2000 manual trannys will fit under older generation Daks, but I'm pretty sure the the crossmember under the trans has changed and uses a different style mount. Check overall length of any other trans you're thinking of using, as well as the rear shaft size. You'll need to match the shaft with the transfer case, and you may need to lengthen (or shorten) your driveshaft. I've done a lot of that measuring and adapting stuff lately in my own Dakota. Transfer cases haven't changed much in physical size and bolt patterns, but the speedometer and speed sensor take-offs have been removed and replaced with new electronic versions.
If you're interested I have a 5 speed from an '89 V6 4x4 that I'll let go. I have no use for it as I changed out the V6 motor and trans and put in a V8 and larger trans (the "measuring and adapting" I spoke of).
