Hey fellas; my '94 started, immediately died and won't restart. it has high miles and probably about time for the pump to go out. my question is, can the pump just suddenly go out like that with no prior warning? i'm real tempted to order one tomorrow........so i can then find an electrical problem the day the new pump arrives thanks
If you slug the fuel tank with a two x four or a soft hammer, the blow will often get a freshly failed fuel pump to run for a short while. If that does not pan out, try addressing "The Splice" as detailed in the sticky.
Beat on it first; number one rule for shade tree mechs my helper didn't show today to help with electrical but i'll give it a good whack tomorrow. thanks much
thanks; no, i'm careful not to run the gas low cause my indicator is broke and now the speed and trip meter too :/ i've not heard any noises but my check engine light's been on for a long while. can't afford a diagnostic. thanks; i'm really not wanting to unravel all those wires is why i'm gonna probly go on assuming it's the pump...150000 miles on it.
Tried the 2x4 procedure and got it to run..yeah! got it home now in the shade. So i'd be risking strandation if i try and run to the store and back eh? at least i know it's the pump and not the wiring!
Turn your key on and off five times and leave it on the on position the engine light will flash your codes ending in 55 meaning there are no more codes
