Default MOPAR perfomrance PCM

Is the MOPAR performance PCM for the 3.9 any good?

If it is where might I look for one? Searching isn't helping much.

I didn't know that there was one!

If you find them, let me know - I might be interested myself.

There used to be a V6 Mopar Performance PCM, but it is no longer made. Every now and then one will pop up on ebay or craigslist. Any performance PCM doesn't give out extra HP without other modifications, like open exhaust and an air intake.

DIBS! Whatever turns up will be used.
From what I have been able to determine they made several hundred of them for the 92 and 93 which also work in the 94 and 95. You have to use 91 octane or higher with it or you don't get the benefit. I didn't find any mentions of actual HP gains or MPG loss. You'd think someone would write the code and create a flash for our OE computers.
I figure its another working item they killed for no good reason like the electric car GM made and few people knew about but every owner (Leased from GM) loved. They literally stopped renewing the leases and had them all crushed in the 90's!

I have also seen new JET "chips" for $250+ which never have an actual pic next to them but I suspect its a pale version of the real deal. Looks like they are a plug in unit between the OE plug and slot on the PCM

HAve you got an MP part #? There's a guy in my area that is the gen 1 parts hoarder...his business is rebuilding gen 1s and selling them to low income families. If you have a part # I can ask him if he has one.

Don't get the JET chip, it is what you describe, it goes in between the PCM and the wiring connector. I bought one long ago, it burnt up my connector and melted the connector. I had to rebuild the connector and replace the PCM.

Part numbers P5249521 P5249383.
The first one is as Crazy says in the FAQ the second was an email message from Billy White I forget his handle, he sold a couple of these for the 3.9 in 09 on another board and I noticed he used the same handle here so I PM'd him with the first part number. He said he'd keep an eye out and mentioned the second Part Number.

There IS the "Burn it yourself" method.

I've been digging, and for the turbo SMEC / SBEC / SBEC-II users, there's actually flash modules, and free software to read the current code (you do need a special cable, which isn't THAT special; a FTDI cable with the genuine FTDI chip and some wiring does it)

Here's where I've been digging this up at: www.boostbutton.com

They do mostly for the turbo 2.2/2.5 motors; but the mechanics are good either way.

Soon as I get a FTDI/SCI cable, I'll be reading my current ECU and seeing what I can do with the info presented.

Thanks Ralph I'll look into that. The correct term for any connecting cable is Dongle. I was just searching and found this page. It has what seems good ideas on easy performance mods for the v6 along with brand name recs then he plugs Superchips at the end. I forget if my thermostat is 195 or not. I know it runs a LOT better when it is cold outside. Maybe I'll spend the money on a 180 and just to be sure. http://www.superdak.com/v6-magnum-en...rmance-basics/
