95 transmission issue
It might be a 46RE --- but notes on Allpar say that the REs weren't used until 1996, with OBDII controllers (the JTEC) due to a lack of raw horsepower on the SBEC (68HC11, 8 bit CPU) ECU.
And I'd doubt the 46 on a 5.2, but it might be. I'd bet a 44RH instead; however, study up on both (42/44Rx were based on the A904, the 46 on the venerable 727;methodogy will be the same, but the exact parts and friction/steel counts will vary.)

There are numbers stamped on the driver side of the trans on the lip above where the pan is bolted on. You can find out what it is using them.

Ah. Then please inform him there's multiple different typed of fluids for all kinds of different things for a reason.

Before i go on sullying my dads name i did find out that it was indeed ATF4 that he was putting in there. Dont know why I thought he was grabbing dexron but im a professional space cadet.
