Default rear bumper

I recently got a 96 dakota 4x4. wasnt long before i was rear ended and the bumper looks like crap now. Im having a hard time finding a good used replacement. Is there other years that will work for this truck? Insurance wont cover it if thats the route you were thinking. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

1987-1996 is a direct fit; I've heard that the Gen2 bumpers will fit, but won't swear to that.

Did you buy the mount kit, or use the brackets off you old bumper?

yeah I can find nice fronts but not back bumpers for these... I could use 2 of them for my 92 and my 96.... looking at the chrome version of that aftermarket one but that is about double the price.

And my experience with aftermarket chrome has been it is way less quality and life then the factory was, (which isnt much)

Off topic, but I wish someone made a replacement bumper with the half moons for dual exhaust like the newer rams have!! I think those are cool!!

on a related note I wish I could find a newer Ram that didn't have 4 damn doors.... I am so tired of seeing 4 door pickups with uselessly short beds!!
drove thru the local Dodge dealer lot and they did not have a single truck on the lot that was 2 door or cab and 1/2. Not 1. new or used.
4 doors everyone does not need or WANT....
good thing old trucks are cheap and plentiful/ all I can do is hope things stay that way.
