what is cheaper though, $35 or so for the right fluid, or 2-300 or WAY More for a new transmission?

so? Whos going to put it in for you? You don't seem to have the knowledge or patience to do it yourself. How are you going to get back amd forth to wherever while your truck is being fixed?

Now you're being ridiculous. So, you're okay running potentially the wrong fluid, because you'd rather chance it for $35 since you have a backup transmission. Don't know about you, but my time for swapping a transmission is worth far more than $35. And once you swap that transmission, whatcha going to fill it up with? That's right...the $35 oil you tried to avoid buying.

I talked to a transmission repair shop and they advised me not to use the ATF+4 due to seal compatibility issues. They service the A500 with Dex/Merc and guarantee them.

Chrysler recommends the ATF +4.... Think I would believe the manufacturer before I would take the word of some other shop.

We've all said the same...at this point, the OP would find a homeless guy under a bridge, and if he said use Dex/Merc that'd be good enough to justify his position. It's a lost cause at this point.
