Default Dakota Tribute build

So I'm looking at buying this 96 Dakota 2wd 318. The rearend is shot. I plan to recreate a build my grandfather did and don't have his old books. I want to put 05 ram 1500 axle under the 96 dakota. Anyone have the axle measurements from either rearend for center pumpkin to hub and from leaf mount to leaf mount?

I posted here most to see if I can get some measurements on these 1500 axles and see if anyone had tried it. Need measurements from pumpkin to spring mount and pumpkin to hub.

Working on a tribute build. Looking at 96 dakota to build for my grandpa. Can someone hook me up with rear axle measurements. Need center pumpkin to hub and center pumpkin to leaf mounts.

Looking buying a 96 Dakota. Can someone help me with measurements. Need the center pumpkin to the hub and from center pumpkin to leaf mount.

05 is third gen ram. Might have better luck posting there. The axle IS going to be wider than the stock dakota axle though...... how much? That, I don't know.

I can get them for you as they both used the 9.25 Chrysler rear end

Not the 1996; it used 8.25 rear 7.25 front.

why?? I rebuilt the 8-1/4 in my 96 easily enough last year AND added a brand new Track Lok "just because I had it sitting here collecting dust"..... that by itself makes the rear end stronger. I bet if you look around and not real hard either I'd bet you could find a good used rear end meant for that truck, with "posi" (Traclok, Sure Grip", etc) besides, cheaper and definitely easier than what you are wanting to do.
If you have the know how you can rebuild your rear end "and know what you have" for not much more than a junkyard would want for a replacement.
that 05 rear end's rims DEFINITELY WON'T have the same bolt pattern as your 96 Dakota.... 6 lugs vs 5, to start off with.

I have a 87 dakota 4wd rear setting in my driveway, If you can use the measurements from that, I can get them for you. Let me know........
Just curious, what are your build plans? I always like to hear about other people's projects!!
FWIW I put a ford 8.8 out of an explorer in my 87. Here is a link. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...nd-more-2.html

Edit to say, Early 87-90? used the standard 5x4.5 bolt pattern, same as a lot of fords as well. Now, if you do go with that pattern on your 96, I think, you can change the rotors on the front to the early model and get away from that 6 bolt pattern.... Just a thought.
