Look what I found! Well technically my wife found it but the details don't matter at least it turned up!

Got my diff carrier back together Now just need to setup the rear end and it can finally go back together.

I love this kind of thing! Makes me want to do more to my '93! No rust here in south, glad for that. I'd mainly like to put new suspension on. And would love a straight shift transmission.

Let us know how setting up the diff goes. I've done alot of gm and Ford but I've never done one of these Chrysler's. I'm a little Leary. I've watched the YouTube videos and read the stuff on line and read the service manuals. It just seems super easy to mess it up. I've read where people say it might take you 10 trys to get it right and some people say they got it right in 1 or 2 trys. I built my own tools to adjust the backlash and bearing preload, have my dial guage and magnetic base. Just haven't done the work yet cuz I don't want to mess it up. Even my buddy who has been a certified mechanic his whole life never touched one of these rear ends. So when I asked him to help and showed him how they're set up he just stood there looking at it and saying I don't know

I do wish I had a pinion depth gauge, but they are expensive so I'll be doing the guess and check method. I haven't removed the rear pinion bearing yet, so I'm going to try it first with the shims it had in there previously. I bought a spare rear bearing and I'm gonna shave out the inside so it just drops on the pinion so it's easy to remove as I'm checking different shims.

Im not looking forward to it, it'd be nice to have a depth gauge, but I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones that gets it quick. But being that you can't tell how much shims you need to add/remove based on the pattern it is just a guessing game.

A quick look on Canadian tires site doesn't show one for rent. It's a pretty specialized tool, that most people don't even attempt at home so I'm thinking it's gonna be a purchase only thing.

I just got a magnetic base with arms and a dial guage off eBay for 25$ with free shipping. There is some pinion depth tools on there that aren't a bad price. But with the base and arms you could rig something up to measure

That's kinda what I thought. They usually run around 100 on the cheap side. That's why I love eBay. I can't believe some of the deals I've found on there
