Well, that would certainly explain a lot....... Critters cause all manner of problems..... Though it makes you wonder how they get in there in the first place.

I had a "no start" issue on my '90 Dakota. After checking fuel, spark, etc., I discovered that if I bang on the ECM it would start. I could also get it to quit by banging on it. I replaced the ECM with a reman. unit. So far, so good.

New ECM did not solve the problem so i give up guys. i don't relish the idea of leaving it with a repair shop but guess that's what i'll have to do.

I'm not getting a trouble code with the key light flashes; will a pro model obd1 scan tool pick up codes that the key method will not?

A good scanner will also show you pending codes. Not to mention give you access to a LOT of information the parts store scanners will not.

Give a quick recap of symptoms, and what you have done?

we're not getting a reading at the coil, no fire to coil. we're looking for a 'ballast resistor'. do i even have one of those?

No power at the coil? What about at the injectors? Don't know if there should be a ballast resistor or not.....

I am going to move this to the tech section..... Like I should have quite a while ago..... Yep. I'm a slacker.
