Transfercase exploded

The input shaft needs swapped out. They're not the same from auto to manual. Everytbing else is the same though.

Glad you found one, couldn't believe it when I checked car-part.com for ND and not one xfer case for Dakota...unbelievable.

Yeah I was surprised myself I couldnt find anything. And that was the closest that had a 5speed and a driveshaft

I dont think the 96 ram transfer case is going to go in.... at least a direct swap. According to Rock auto, yours has a 23 spline input with 1.55 exposed and a 27 spline output....
The ram version comes in 2 different styles. the 23 spline is the same with one having the 1.55 exposed, the other having .84 exposed...... The output is 32 spline on the ram and that is going to be a problem.
If you go to rockauto.com and look, you can see what I am talking about.
It may be that you can disassemble the 2 and make one that will work.....

If none of this works out, have you tried car-part.com? Checking they show several from 260 miles and on out from Bismarck.....
