Not suddenly as you describe.

 

I borrowed a fuel pressure gauge, and it registers 36 when I turn the ignition, and is steady. It registers 39 and is steady when I start it up and idle.
So, it seems the fuel pressure is fine.

I removed the throttle position sensor to make sure it was not visibly broken, a few days ago. Is there any chance I reinstalled it incorrectly? There is a dial in side, that must be lined up.

When I unplug the electrical connection on the TPS, it changes the idle then it stalls when I give it some gas.

check your TPS and make sure you know which way that dial turns. My old one turns to the left with the end of my finger as I hold it with the dial facing me. When you install it the blade it fits over must be able to grab the dial to turn it. So if it is on the other side of the edges it wants to grab it probably won't work. IDK that stalling would be the reaction. Maybe someone else does?

 

I found a video on installing the TPS correctly. I removed it again, and made sure is turns and springs back into place as it should, and then reinstalled it.
But still the same problem. Thanks!

 

Have a scanner that will read live data? Make sure the TPS value actually changes when you step on the gas, and the PCM sees it.

I can’t say as I blame you. I’m not a trained mechanic so I have limitations and at some point we need to relinquish to someone who is.

Curious, who did you hire to look at it?

 

I had her towed to an "old school" mechanic in my area. He has worked on my father's cars, and I trust he will be able to figure it out. I am gonna kick myself if it is something simple that I overlooked--- but I just could not spend any more time and energy on trying to find the problem.

I will report back the solution, so that this thread can hopefully help somebody else on the forum.

 

It's always something "simple" like being low on turn signal fluid or sumpin'.

Yeahhh--- I checked the "blinker fluid" several times, and I even changed the air in all 4 tires--- so I know those things are good! :-)
