Default Finished the 360 swap, runs great :)

It's very smooth and makes a fair bit more power than the 318 I had. Also working well with the 318 PCM. Supposedly it will run lean at higher RPMs, but I did a couple pulls and it didn't seem to falter. Besides, it'll hardly see 3k RPM in regular driving anyway.

I guess, nothing in this picture proves it's a 360 so I guess you'll have to take my word for it

Need a different air cleaner cover that SAYS "360". I know they are out there.

I've put about 50 miles on it and it's perfect, except I'm chasing a high idle that I had with the 318 too. I thought it was a Vac leak but I've gone over everything and tested the system--no leaks. Still idles around 8-900 RPM when warm.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the auto PCM running a manual engine. Expecting the drag from the transmission oil pump or something? I have no idea, just spitballing.

Not a terribly big deal as "city" driving is only about 0.1% of my driving but ideally I like things to work properly if anyone has an idea.

I'd see about swapping the pie pan on the air cleaner with one that says "440 Magnum" or something like that. Have a little fun with people.

Well that was a fast swap! Did you use the 318 injectors? If not I wonder if maybe the 5.9 are a different size and maybe conflict with your 5.2 computer. Just a thought.

I did consider that. I did use the 318 injectors though, cuz they were in good shape and already in the intake manifold. Seems to run okay though, definitely doesn't fall on its face and it's got TONS of torque for a little truck, I can just leave it in 4th going 20 mph up hills lol. I don't make a habit of that but it's nice to know how much pull that it's got. Especially considering it should have 50 ft lbs more over a HEALTHY 5.2 and my 5.2 was far from healthy with a totally dead cylinder..so it's probably more like 75 ft lbs at least more than what I'm used to.

A 5.9 would be nice but I'll never complain about my 5.2.

Crazy enuf, but I had a new catalytic converter put in last July. Replaced the original which was shot beyond recognition. My 5.2L has had more pep ever since. Kinda nice to get a boost like that.
