Default Detached Oil Dipstick Tube

Bought that 89 4cyl. It had a couple more problems than had originally been disclosed in the listing but that's par for the course. In this case, the oil dipstick tube is sitting in the cabin instead of the engine bay.

I see that there's a bracket on the tube that mounts onto the engine somewhere but is that the only thing that hold it in place? I dont see an o-ring or anything on the tube right now and based on the very rudimentary part schematics at mopargiants.com there doesn't seem to be an o-ring involved. Is this really as simple as finding the right bolt and bolting it in?

I found this old thread: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...be-o-ring.html
It does in fact mention an o-ring but the OP doesn't say what kind of engine and his profile suggests that he has a V6, so probably not a good source of info for the 4-cyl.

I have no clue. You can always get the field service manual (Bishkos) for your year and engine. Look on ebay. The manual could come in handy for other things that go wrong. They really are excellent manuals. The best.

Yep. There should be a lip toward the bottom of the tube, that bottoms out on the hole you stick it into. I have seen them break off there, and leave the bottom part of the tube in the hole. Fun to get out.....
