Removing rear glass
I have a 1996 Dodge Dakota and I am considering replacing the rear window glass. Is there a special process to removing the seal?
I could just wing it but if there is a trick I would rather know before I tear stuff up

I thought the 96 back glass was glued in? If you have the big rubber seal there's really nothing to taking it out, but if you have the glued in window you'll have to cut it out.
Also, there's apparently some difference between regular cab and club cab...so where ever you get the replacement make sure it's correct.

A brick or large hammer will do the job.
Seriously, if you're going to put a sliding window in you can use piano wire. The problem is, the rear glass is tempered. Where a windshield will crack, the rear will shatter. In case you DO shatter the rear window, before you start cutting, tape a tarp or something inside the window. Leave it baggy at the bottom so if the glass DOES shatter, you don't have to clean glass out of the inside of your truck. Some of those little splinters take forever to get out of the carpet.

Tempered glass is always problematic to remove. If you aren't putting a different one in, why are you wanting to remove it?

If this works to replace it you can get a suction cup thing at Harbor Freight.I installed the rear window of a small truck by myself with it and a clothes line rope. YT vid helped.
EDIT- Actually I think the guys at Steel Rubber have the vid using a rope to install the rear window.

If you are going with a slider you will need a second pair of hands. I used the suction holder with a solid glass panel and it had to be in the middle. I don't think you can pull that hard on the slider windows without breaking them.
