Default ok guys I need help again

my O/D/ cutout switch on the dash of my 93 Dakota went bad and wont come on I had to drive home yesterday at 3000 rpm, yea it sucked a lottta gas, I removed the switch, and drove to work today, with O/D on the entire time
My question is can I install my own flip switch or a push switch? if I can which wires need to be on the switch that closes the circuit?
I've looked online and all for my 93 are $69 bucks for one made in 93 and the ones with a " warranty" are out of my price range

I'd head to either the parts store or an electronics place and get a momentary push button switch. I'd wire it temporarily and see if it will do the job. Then you can either add a panel under the dash or if the truck is getting a bit beat, drill a hole and mount it on the dash. I bought a '93 back then and every now and then, the switch would kick it out of OD. So those switches were iffy from the start.

My '93 does the same thing. Every once in a great while it would come out of OD of its own volition.

My understanding is that when you push the switch and the light is on the OD is cut off. I expect it was meant to be a way to downshift into 3rd on hills or pulling stuff.
Mine quit once. I really only remember that it failed on me then I did something, probably jiggled the wires, and now it works fine. Could have been a fuse involved too. Isn't that the 5amp fuse???

You are correct. Dodge made that button/switch confusing. When pushed, the light comes on and you can read the letters "OFF" easier. Took me awhile to understand that OD is OFF when the button is lit up. For the record, my truck is ALWAYS in OD mode. Never found a reason to have OD off.

I suspect so. I was 34 by the time I bought my truck and done with driving like a punk. Now I drive like and old man.

I'm an olde pharte and I still drive in a "Spirited" manner. I've passed weed whacker Hondas' with my arm on the window sill and my grey beard blowing in the wind.

When I had my 96 2500.... I did a buncha work on the steering, to the point that it actually drove great. Unfortunately, that meant I occasionally 'relapsed', and drove my 3 ton truck like I used to drive my 1 and a half ton Firebird..... Probably not the best idea.
