Glad you came out lucky with that one. Too many people don't pay attention to their bodies in later years, and it can really shorten the lifespan. I turn 67 next month. I plan on living a while longer so I can enjoy what I am rebuilding, and going to build!

First we had the planetary alignment show up with the completion of shop 2.0, and then today I walk out and see this! I guess Mother Nature approves of my new shop.

I got the backer board for the wood stove installed before my back told me I had to quit working. I will try to get the stove in place and the chimney installed tomorrow (if my back will let me).

With the help of a neighbor, we were able to get the wood burning stove and interior chimney installed. We are now only the interior trim on the human door away from final inspection by the county! So close to moving in, and my back is seriously tweaked. So the move in will be slow, at best. The Dakota has to put in the shop with my car hauler trailer, which needs my truck. My truck has been down since the day before Thanksgiving. It is finally in the shop, getting a new PCM. Yup, the main computer took a dump. But I should get it back sometime this week. This thread will soon be back on topic, tearing down a '95 Dakota in preparation for a LS3 GM Performance drivetrain and a '52 Studebaker truck body swap!

He's not very big....... Or, at least, the pic makes him look small.... That actually keeps the shop warm? (granted, shop 2.0 IS well insulated.....)

Before the ceiling was raised 8", I could get the shop to 70 degrees in one to one and a half hours. But I would need to feed the fire every ten to fifteen minutes to get a good coal bed established. It is only 12" deep, so every piece of wood in the cord needs to be cut in half. They come at 22" to 24" long. So in a few weeks (after final inspection is signed off this week) I will be getting a mini split and putting on the opposite wall. Heating and air conditioning. Probably in the range of 24,000 BTU capacity. The stove was a free gift from a neighbor. My current record for outside surface temperature on that stove (measured with an infrared temp gun) is 724 degrees. So once you establish a good coal bed in that little thing it cranks!

We had a fuel oil furnace in our garage at a previous residence.... No thermostat though.... We would just fire it up, and let it run for a while. Was out there one winters day, fired up the furnace, started working on the Challenger we had in there at the time... several hours later, I realized I was sweating... It was like 5 degrees outside. Check the thermometer in the garage... 95 degrees..... Turned off the furnace. That thing was bloody efficient.... and the garage was very well insulated as well. Gotta love a warm place work in.

The final inspection has been scheduled by the county, they will be here tomorrow. Almost 11 months since the fire. I can't wait to start moving in!

I received the sound system the other day. Along with some pictures, signs and a poster, the speakers will be hung in the corners. I picked up an Onkyo 900 watt Dolby Atmos 5.1 surround system. The amp will sit on top of a mini fridge I will be picking up over the weekend. Once I get it set up, I am sure a happy dance will occur! Of course, it will not be filmed in any way (sorry!).
