Today I am getting my wheel tubs. I ordered 5" deep ones, which is around an inch more than I need. I am not ready to work with them on the bed yet, so they will go on the shelf until that time. Between today and Monday, I should have all the radiator parts here. Then I can start working out all the mounting brackets and what not. It's like Christmas every time parts show up at my door!

So take it easy for the weekend, and let your knee (and arm....) rest up. You are makin' progress, and that is all that is important. No need to kill yourself doing it though.

Aaaand.... because I don't have enough projects. This dropped in the shop today. I have been a VW guy since my teens, and I have always wanted to build a Volks Pod, or also known as a VW Fender Bike. This one will start sometime next month when my cousin comes for a visit. She wants to help wrench on something while she visits, so I have been collecting parts for this build. This will be fun!

OK, that's different. Don't think I have ever seen one of those before.

The radiator and fan showed up today. It will take some cutting, welding, and trimming to get it to fit, but it's the right size. The fan is rated at 4000 cfm, so it will keep it cool if I get stuck in traffic, The trade off is 90db of fan noise. I am thinking the exhaust noise will drown it out.

I received the material I needed for the driver's side engine mount. It's a piece of 1.5" x 3" x 1/4" wall steel tube. Heavy wall because it needs to be. Got into my grinding, test fitting, grind off more material, tack, and weld up. Test fitted it, and the digital protractor says that side to side, I am off level by .1 degrees. I can live with that! The pinion angle is not quite that accurate, but I can adjust that with the link bars on the rear suspension. I am getting a lot of weld splatter. It turns out the US had banned anti-splatter spray in the industry. You know it's bad when it gets banned in Nevada! It's just a pain to knock all those berries off. I guess the stuff wasn't very healthy to burn. The tube will be welded to the chassis, after some end caps are welded on.

Stick welder? Wire welder? Flux core? Or inert gas shielded???

On the wire welder I used when doing exhaust, if the gas flow was inadequate, I'd get more splatter......
