Default Need Hardware Location for Transmission Bell Housing

Hey, I have an 88 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 and I'm mid way in a transmission rebuild. I didn't organize and identify hardware locations for mounting my transmission to the back of my engine along with exactly where the hangers for the vacuum & wires going to my transmission & transfer case. Can someone please help me out I've been asking around and I'm not getting any answers or any reliable info. (If you have a 1st gen Dakota that's either 4WD or 2WD with a 3.9l V6 or 5.2l V8 with any transmission & or transfer case, hardware mounting for bell housing is the same)

Check out some of the major mopar parts sites, they generally have illustrations that show where various parts go...... Either that, or get yourself a service manual for your truck.

I already have the Hanes manual for my truck and it dosent contain basically anything on where everything goes other than how to remove it and install it. I have also looked into the Mopar diagrams and it isn't as detailed as it needs to be, I am also not sure if I accidentally used transmission bel housing bolts the extension housing on my transmission but I can't find diagrams on that either which is why I'm on here asking. If I did find it, I wouldn't be on here asking.

Likely gonna have to sort your nuts/bolts by size, and go from there...... Haynes manuals are useless.....

I guess my question is, are there any studs that go to the bell housing of the transmission & the extension housing, and if there is, where do the go cause there ain't no diagram showing that.

There might be a stud for the trans dipstick tube on the passenger side..... Beyond that, I don't know.

It's a DODGE Dakota not a Haynes Dakota. According to our dearly departed Gen 1 guru Ralph P. He'd call your a$$ out in a heartbeat when folks would start lamenting about "well I can't find...the diagram must not be complete...etc. in the Haynes, Chiltons, whatever non-Dodge FSM they were trying to use. I think there's a link in the FAQ where you can order a FSM cd or paperback publication.

Huh????..... I know it's a 88 Dodge Dakota I have the Haynes manual for the first gen dodge Dakota's.... And if the diagram was on there then I wouldn't be asking at all, trust me I've looked.

Haynes and Chilton are cheapo books that are good only if what you need is in them as you have found out. The Factory Service manual is what the mechanics at the dealer use. Bishko is the original printer for Chrysler and they sell CD versions for about $40 last time I looked. What you are asking about IDK that any manual would have that. There is a 42/46rh trans manual in the FAQ section that might help you. And if all else fails go into a trans shop and ask.

Yes, I dont think I've ever seen a manual in any application tell you bolt layouts. However any time i've spent under a dodge theres one size bolt al the way around the bell housing. Magnums had two larger bolts that came in from the front side, and you have to remove the support braces to get em.

I'm not sure I fully understand your statement, but how i see it is you're trying to reinstall and have no idea where anything goes. Fortunately 40 year old hoses and wiring and a pretty solid memory, if you start holding stuff up in place it'll just all start to fall into place
