Default 5 Speed Swap

Hey All,
I’ve got a 1992 Dakota SWB 5.2 2wd.
I’m trying to get it hot rod truck-esque.
I pulled an ax-15 out of a 93 v6 2wd and when I pulled the flywheel off I realized there’s a hall effect sensor that picks up the ring on the flywheel.
So as I’m trying to keep this low budget, my question is is there any way to bypass this to use the v6 flywheel, because I know a v8 flywheel won’t fit in the ax-15 bellhousing.
I picked up an MSD 6AL-2 to take care of spark and cuz 2-step. But I’m wondering if I need that sensor to control fuel injection. I could also carburetor swap it if need be, but I don’t really WANT to do that.

I *think* the PCM wants that sensor for the injectors as well.... and it'll be unhappy about not seeing an input from it...... Which will cause other problems. (like, not tripping the asd, or fuel pump relays.....)

Didn't that trans come behind V-8's at one point though?? Other alternative is to find an NV3500.....

I’m not sure if it came behind v8’s, I know the 3500 did, but I got the pedal box, crossmember, clutch system, trans, and flywheel all for $100 so I wanna try to make it work if I can. Any one have any idea if the trigger ring off a v8 flywheel would press fit onto a v6 flywheel? I’m thinking they would be the same size considering the sensor is placed the same on both.

I do believe the sensors are different from auto to manual. I also suspect the V-6 flywheel is smaller diameter than a V-8 unit, thus, the fitment problems.

If the specs are the same could you not just use an NV3500 clutch setup? input shaft diamter/spline similar? input shaft depth?

I think the problem is whether the V-8 flywheel will fit inside the ax-15 bellhousing.....

I’m going to get my hands on a v8 flywheel wheel I can and see whether or not it’s actually to big, and whether or not the tone ring is the same size as the v6. I purchased a pilot bearing for a v8 and it’s nowhere close to big enough to fit on the ax-15’s input shaft.

I read a little on some other pages, guys talked about machining the flywheel and bolting the flex plate in between the flywheel and the crank, to keep the sensor tabs. Definitely not an ideal situation

99% sure the 3.9 magnum flywheel and 5.2 magnum flywheel is the same, other then the spots for the sensor location. As HEY YOU said, the sensor will need to be changed to one for a manual transmission..

The windows in the 'tone ring' for the crank sensor are different between the six, and 8..... number of cylinders aside, on the six, they alternate between one window, and two that the sensor reads.....
