I received my used cruise control cable today. I'll wait till morning to install it. I aint messing with it in that heat this afternoon. Anyway, it looks identical to mine. About the only thing I'm unsure of is the length. Not sure if that matters. I noticed it was marked as '94 Dakota V6. Mine is a '93. Not concerned about that. I have a V8 (5.2L). Correct me if I'm wrong but the V8 and V6 block were identical except the V6 had two less cylinders?? If that's the case I would think the cruise control cable would be used in both cases.

Length just doesn't matter, so long as it can make smooth turns. (no kinks.....)

Blocks: Yep. Short two cylinders, and that's about it. A lot of parts interchange between 6 and 8's.

And yes, to remove the cable from the bracket you just squeeze the ears. The servo side has a small pin that runs through it. Shouldn't be too hard.

But I am sure it will find a way.

Well, this cable wont work. It's too short. Got it installed and went to fire up the engine and it went straight to 10 billion RPM at idle. A closer look and it becomes obvious. 1st picture compares the length of the two cables (original vs used one I just got). 2nd picture shows the cable protruding a little from that plastic clasp end. That little **** stop at the end of the cable actually buries itself into that plastic clasp thingy nearly to the other end. I'm more curious now if the V6 and V8 versions are different. Are the throttle bodies positioned in the same place on both blocks?? Thoughts?

I don't know. I'm gonna look at it again. Cursory looks didn't suggest to me it was adjustable. If it is, I'm thinking it would be at that conical shaped torpedo looking thing. I'll take another look.
