Went back out to see if there was anything adjustable and there is not. All the plastic parts at both ends of the cable assy are pass-thru. No adjustment available. It appears to me the steel cable lengths are identical and the only difference between the two cable assys is that plastic end piece that is considerably longer on the original cable assy.

Wonder if there are differences in the bracket it mounts to on the throttle body...... I suppose, in the end though, that cable simply isn't going to work......

Yeah, I don't know. The part I got says it came from a '94. My truck is a '93. Were there bracket changes from one year to the next? No idea.

Looks like I'm back in search mode. I'll take this cable off and return it. They have a 30-day return policy so if they're not shady I'll at least get my $$ back. At least I know what to look for now. His ad said it was for Dakota years '90 thru '96. Not so sure of that anymore unless the difference is V6 to V8. I have no idea why V6 and V8 would make a difference with them being the same block but what do I know?

HY, I think I might have found the right one. See https://www.ebay.com/itm/17653462332...3ABFBMpIKTy4Bm The ad says '93. It surely looks identical. Pics aren't the best. Here is a pic of mine. Does it look the same to you? No, I wont hold you to anything. Just looking for a second opinion. BTW, pickins for this cable are between slim and none. I'm relegated to crusty parts, I'm afraid.

Yeah, that end looks the same length as my original. I'm beginning to think there was a change in '94 to the shorter end piece. I looked at everything else and it's all in the same place as my original except the vacuum line comes out in a little bit different place but that vacuum line is floppy with lots of play in it so that doesn't concern me. But the servo itself, the cable, the end piece that goes on the throttle, the firewall bracket, electrical, etc are all identical. He has another ad for a '93 speed control but he only has pictures of the truck, not the part(s) themselves. It's definitely a '93 like mine. Guessing the two ads are for the same part. Think I'll spring for it. He also has a 30-day return policy. Risk is low.

Unfortunately, that is very true. I fully expect some twenty dollar part to fail on my truck, that I can't get anymore, changing it from truck, to scrap metal...... Not like I could just dump the electronics, and convert it to carb/distributor.

Exactly my fear. I had considered buying an identical truck to mine and just use it for cannibalizing but I have no place to keep it.
