Swap moving along slowly. Grandson and I have other interests and now and then we get sidetracked for a while. Currently have the pedal assembly installed, engine, trans and transfer case mounted. Running into some electrical glitches. The connector on the manual CPS doesn't match the connector on the auto wiring harness, need some help on this. Is it OK just to clip the sensor connectors that go to the auto trans? The emission system is in disarray, hoses plugged, hoses missing, no purge valve. If someone has a vacuum line diagram I'd really appreciate it being posted.

If you search "96 5.2 4wd vacuum diagram" you get it. The auto and manual CPS-Crank Position Sensor on RA shows 3 prongs on the plug but the shape of the hard plastic inside is different. If you can determine what the 3 wires are you can probably swap the plug on the loom or the CPS. There is a FSM for the 96 in the FAQ section.

Thanks, vacuum line problem solved. Another problem...maybe. The donor nv3500 was not fitted with a flywheel cover/shim plate. Anyone know where I can get one?

Update on the swap. Finally figured out that the neutral safety switch on the auto trans harness needs to be grounded in order for the starter to be engaged, engine cranks over as it should. However, no start, no voltage to the coil plug in. Where do I need to look to find the problem?

You will only see power at the coil for about three seconds at initial key on, after that, the PCM has to see the engine turning to give it power. Do you get the initial three seconds? Does the coil have power while cranking?

Something else to consider, if you didn't do anything with the crank sensor during the trans R&R, you likely have the wrong one in there, and it's probably damaged at that......
