Suddenly the gearbox stopped shifting... So I crawled under the car and lo and behold, the bushing for the linkage bracket was missing. Does anyone have a photo of what it should originally look like? I suspect this is the part? Thanks and regards.

Clever. You should lube that with white lithium grease. If it fails Dorman makes them pretty cheap. The late great RalphP posted the part number years ago.
