I have a 2000 4.7L Durango with 136000 miles. I am getting 0201 and 0205 codes for a fuel injector connector malfunctionon #1 and #5 cylinders. The check engine light came on and the engine started running really rough. I checked the code and got a P0201code. I checked the connector by taking it off and putting it back on, and the check engine light went off. Feeling confident I continued using the car. Let the car sit for a few days and used it again and while driving the engine light came back on and the car started running rough. I continued to drive for a while so I could get home and the Durango started to run fine again, but the engine light stayed on. This has happened 3 times now to where the light comes on, engine runs rough, next time I drive it is fine, or it starts to run fine the longer I drive. I gave it a tune up ofnew plugs and air filter once this started tosee if that would help. No change.Has anyone had this problem or would you have any idea at where to start looking for the problem? It seems to be very intermittent.

If I remember right, I've read a similar issue. They just replaced the fuel injectors with the codes and it fixed the problem.

Hey Kap did you ever solve this? and what was the fix?

 

Most likely it is one of 2 problems.


1. Bad gas or bad spark plugs. Replace the spark plugs with cheapo Champion Copper plugs and gap em at .040

2. If it continues swap the injectors and see if the problem moves to the new cylinders. If it does replace the injector(s). If not I would move to a Crank Shaft Sensor or Camshaft Sensor.

im having this issue now, motor wont run, getting same code, replaced camshaft sensor...and still...checked the injectors..spitting fuel...so im lost...truck wont start at all...JUST got it back with a new "rebuilt" motor, put 29.5 miles before it started sputtering and just died.

 

Try A TPS and check both ground wires on each side on the engine block.

 

Got it running, my tps is already new, replaced both cam and crank sensors and now it starts and runs great!

 

I was going to say it could have been a crank sensor. Better to have replaced both like you did.
