Default blew up my engine ????

99 DD 5.2L 4x4 T/S lift 32x11.5 107,000K miles hey was just wondering if anyone had this happen?? truck was running fine. got off work late at around 3am. went to get gas cause trucks gas light came on . put in 40 reg. drove about 10 miles and check engine light started flashing on off on off for about 30 sec. stepped on the gas CEL went out . happened again about 10 miles further . i did the same thing and CEL went out . about another 10 miles my CEL came on agian and the truck started running really rough like it was missing 2 - 3 cylinders then imidiatly stalled out.. i coasted to the shoulder. i got towed back to my house. the tow truck driver helped me to try and start it. i got it to run for a split second as it kicked and buckedwith white smoke pouring out of my exhaust. he said it might be deisel. i gotit to my mechanic today and he told me just by a quick once over that it wasnt deisel and its either a head gasket or cracked block. the only thing that was wrong prior to this happening was low ****ty heat and i would go low on antifrezze everyweek. but it wasnt leaking from my truck bad. very small little puddle the size of a half dollar. i was just wondering if this happend to anyone else. i just hope that the powertrain warrenty cover this. i know the dealer is going to try and pull some ****. ahhhh i just bought it like a month ago !!!!!!![:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]

Ouch that really hurts. Sorry to hear about the bad news, as for the 4.7 im not aware, then again maybe because im in the ice age with my eng. Hopefully its just a head gasket. Keep a close eye on your coverage... When i purchased mine for 3 yrs ext. gaskets were not included so hopefully they dont pull that on you.

thats awesome cel comes on and u floor it..lol
when the light flashes it means your are causing damage to the emissions system. ex. antifreeze entering exhaust. and yes if your running low on coolant/antifreeze this can cause the damages you are experiencing. don't open your mouth about the antifreeze leak then you are admitting there was aproblem with the truck and they can say it was your fault by not keeping up on fluid levels...just a reccomendation. good luck. but look on the bright side now here is a perfect opportunity for a major engine upgrades!

Flashing CEL means there is a misfire, not that you are causing damage to the emissions system.

it sounds like you blew a head gasket from the way you were goint through coolant but not having a puddle.... check your oil and see if there is coolant in it... I think there will be... a dealer will try to charge you at the butt for a head gasket fix... prolly over 1,000... they usually calculate and include pulling the engine (which is not necessary, but has a convenience factor to it)...

He is right. That light can mean many things NOT JUST A MISFIRE!

Just because (there is a misfire) means that you WILL take out the CAT, O2's, and potentially emissions. Hello! This means fix the problem not just make it worse. Ya he floored it but as I see it he was just trying to see what was going on and try to make it home.

Keep us updated on the process.

A side note, if its diagnosed as a headgasket without removal and you want to save some money. Get a book and do it yourself [sm=proof.gif] Thats how i started off and now i only bring a car to a dealer or shop if it has anything to do with a trans.

update for today i talked to my mechanic and he said that he can honor the warrenty so id rather have him do it for me than the dealer. LESS B.S. he said hes calling the warrenty people on mon. to make sure that it will be covered.i got the one year powertrain warrenty ENGINE,TRANS,TRANSFER,AXLES. basically all moving parts. and now that you said that about the gaskets not being covered i hope my mechaniccan pull some strings!! the reason i floored it when CEL came on was the last time it came on it was my TPS. that and it started running a little ruff a little more gas had made it go away. i know it was probily bad but at 3am i just wanted to get home. and your right im not saying anything about the leak !! i thought the 5.2L magnum engine was suposed to be good i mean at 107,000 miles i didnt think it would take a ****. i should have stuck with my chevys. this was the best running and most expensive truck i bought. only month ago, and now its the quickest ive killed .
