Default Horn got wet - now it sounds wimpy!

We got some high water in Illinois recently, and after navigating thru some pretty deep standing water, I have come to learn my horn sounds very wimpy when honked - it still works, just faint and dainty!

a - will it just dry out on it's own?
b - anything I can do to speed the recovery?

All in all... get a new horn. It will never be the same.

What you can do is go to Autozone or equivilant automotive parts store... You can get some 136db horns for fairly cheap... I think around $35 for the pair... High and low note...

I'm thinking OEM.

I just hate the sound of a horn that doesn't match the truck!

This is just a plug and play operation, right?

No sensors to alarm or air bags, etc., to deal with?

I wish I could find the link again, because what I am going to buy is a horn... Off of a train... I think it was around $600 or so... Worth it IMO!

These are plug and play. To insure that there is no problem I would disconnect the battery. But there is nothing to worry about.

Or he could just remove the horn relay in the power distribution box under the hood. That way, he doesn't loose clock memory, etc...
