Default Which Solenoid?

If any metal fragments (at all) get into the trany it can hang up the Solenoid.

Fix........Replace the Solenoid and I would replace the Govenor Solenoid. First thing first. Drop the pan and replace the filter. While you are in there I would replace both sensors which are right there. Also do a band adjustment while you are there. Make sure you ONLY use the right fluid, so see your owners manual. This is NOT a PCM problem in my opinion. This issue is well documented.

As for your second question....... The work you did on the front shaft (either drive shaft or half shaft) should not play into this problem. I think your safe to say the shop didn't do anything.

This is why I like to "only" do the work myself.

I don't think you have a input sensor on that trans. You do have an output sensor on it located on the drivers side mid way down.

When you say "Replace the solenoid and I would replace the Govenor Solenoid" What solenoids exactly are you talking about?

RESURRECTION!

Hi guys I've been lurking for about a month now trying to figure out this 'no 4th gear problem.' I replaced all the solenoids, had my tranny guy check the voltages on all the wires all the way to the PCM, and I'm down to 1 code, p0753. All the pins on the PCM match, but I think it's prob a bad PCM (especially after reading this thread). I just don't know if it's a hardware issue or software issue. Question, should I get my ECU reflashed at the dealer ($90) or should I order one of these remanufactured ones online (~$250)?

Sorry for diggin this one up, but its a related topic I didn't want to start a whole new thread considering this one has very useful information in it.

prescription7: we need to know what engine/transmission combo you have as well as if you have a 4x4 or not

if you have a 2002 or earlier truck the PCM doesnt have much effect on the transmission so it wouldnt cause the problem, if you have a 4.7l engine in that time frame (00-02) i would look into replacing the TCM (transmission control module) if you have done all the hardware.

but your best bet for an answer on this would be to get in touch with user master tech as he is our local transmission expert

Sorry I forgot to post my setup! I have a 2000 5.9L 4x4 SLT+ w/ tow package. So its a 46re transmission? Ok I'll try to contact him.

Yes you have a 46RE.

Check your wiring harness for corrosion. Also I would talk to master tech
