Transfer Case Control Module Location, TCCM
Hello Dodge owners.
I just replace the TCCM in my Dodge Durango SLT+ 2001, 4,7L and no change. Still get the "Service 4WD" light. The trans is working in all drives, 2WD,4WD and 4WD Low. Lights indication on the switch. Any ideas?
Thanks.

No, did not reset the PCM. Only disconnected the battery neg. cable and reconnected. The light came back on after three starts. Will have a friend reset the PCM and see if it solves the problem.
Thank you Turbo Stixx.

Hey guys, just thought I'd chime in on this to say thanks. I had the same symptoms with my 01 Durango 4WD system. No 4WD, no lights on the switch, no Service 4WD indicator light. Checked all of the terminals and they were all clean and seated well. No voltage at the transfer case motor. So figured it must be the magic box aka TCCM. Found a used one at a local part yard. Dropped 100.00 on a hope and prayer after reading this thread and several others. Installed it and once again I have 4WD. Yeah!
Good help with this issue. Thanks,
Ron
Are the old boxes repairable? I also opened my old unit and it looked perfect. Nothing obvious. Would it be worth looking for another one to have around as a spare? I only got 180K miles on the original.

Just had the PCM reset and the service 4wd went off just like I disconnected the neg. cable, but came back on after three starts. I was wondering if the ABS system can effect this "service 4WD" light. I notice when I start driving that the brakes are very reactive, like the ABS system is not working and braking is abrupt at first but then becomes more smooth like the ABS system is working again. What do you guys think, could the abs sensors or speed sensors be acting up on me slowly?? causing the service light to come on????
Thank you,
Thank you,
I don't think so.
What you need to do is take the harness off the T-case motor and see if you get power at all down there. When you shift the power will come on and go off because the motor only cycles to engage 4X4 in and out.
If you have power and everything checks out then I would replace the T-case shift motor.

Hi hydrashocker. The strange thig is that everything is working properly, 2wd, 4wd high and low. All lights on the shifting lever/**** are also working.
Something is affecting the computers and causing the light to come on, but i have tried everything in the manual that could cause this problem, but nothing works. I am almost to the point of removing the bulb from the dash.:-(

On the shift motor is also a range sensor, it is one assembly. The range sensor might be out causing the issue and turning back the shift motor back into gear because it never made the shift, well as it see's it.
In this case I would say it is probably shift motor assembly, remove & replace.
