the 4x4 is not working on my 2001 dodge dakota. the switch don't light up and the light in the dask don't light up. Its stuck in 2 wheel drive and the switch doesn't do anything.

Test the switch, and power to it, then power to the shift motor, then finish reading this threads entirety and it should tell you what you need to know.

Had a similar issue with my 2002 Durango (no 2WD or 4WD lights and no switch function). Replaced the TCCM with one out of the boneyard ($40.00 delivered) and all worked fine! It is depicted very well (blue plastic box) with the pic 45Romeo shows in his post. You only want to remove the trim under the steering column. The three 3 screws will have to be removed with a wrench and a lot of patience, as there is no room for a socket. Once the 3 screws are removed, you can move the TCCM around to disconnect the electrical connectors and get them out of the way. Then you have to manipulate to old TCCM around forward, to get it out of the hole. Opposite manipulation to get the replacement TCCM in. The 3 screws will be more challenging to install than they were to remove. You will also, most likely, thrust you hand into some of the sharp under-dash objects as the TCCM is disconnected/manipulated/removed and 'de-skin' a bit of knuckle and forearm tissue!

Our 05 is dropping down into low also, 2 part question hopefully a quick response. Would the TCCM part number be the same for both 01 and 05? Also if it comes down to it are the TCM 2 speed or single? Any input on replacing the TCM would be great it looks like the front drive shaft is smack dab in the way. I have it unplugged for the time being...

Very different trucks when it comes to the electronics, the 01-03 were 1st gen. and the 05 is a second.

WOW - this thread has been going on for some 3 years. A ton of great information, too!

I have an '01 Dakota without any warning or indicator lights. Guy that debugged it can't find anything wrong (other than some 5 volt is not being found). Door locks quit working long before 4WD quit. Changed the CTM and fixed that, now on to the TCCM.

With all the great data, I will be checking out signals and connections, likely order a replacement (if there are any left in the US by now LOL). Will keep you updated as to what I find and what resolves.

I have a 2002 durango slt with awd 5.9ltr and no selector lights, service 4x4 light, no voltage at transfer case motor in any selector mode, and 10 volts at selector switch plug on blue/white wire only. Dont think i missed anything in my description. Whats my next move? This poor truck only has 65k on it and also has evap leak but thats for another thread. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Still having problems finding the reason for my 4wd problem. The 4x4 20 amp fuse blew the other day and when I replaced it, the led lights in the switch are all blinking and nothing is working. I have removed the shift motor and tested it. It seems to be working but the limit is less that an inch in either direction from neutral setting (2wd)
Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I can send photo of the shift motor if needed.
