Default Tccm

My 4wd wont engage. From what I've heard from this site it's the TCCM. I'm going to attempt to fix it. This may be a dumb question but, If I take the TCCM out will the vehicle still operate in 2wd until I get a new part?

It should operate, however I would do it.

Have you tested anything yet or are you simply jumping to the TCCM cause that's what you read?

I checked the 4x4 fuse. I'm assuming it's the tccm, but not sure. when I turn the switch on the dash, there is no noise, and no lights. How do I test it? Will there be a code, or a light on the instrument panel?

First you pull the switch and see if you are getting power in and out of it. If not replace the switch.

Then you move to disconnecting the harness on the T-case motor and see if you are getting power to it when you operate the switch. If not back feed to the TCCM/or from TCCM to switch and see if you have a short. Replace TCCM or bad wire. If no bad wire replace the TCCM.

Next if everything checks out, replace the T-case motor.

Get a manual as it will help you figure it out. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=c...b5ba589d1986ba

Question 4WD Switch

I have the same issues as some of you with the Service 4WD Light being on and no light on the switch. I have the 01 Durango with a 4.7 engine. I had it scanned today and it came up with several codes. The mech was able to get the motor to engage the 4wd by applying current to it so I know that works. Im guessing its the TCCM but my question is, how often can it be the switch that has gone bad? I purchased a used TCCM from a place I found online and installed it but it didnt work, I installed it before I had it scanned so since there are still a bunch of codes Im not positive that the one I put in was a good one. What do you guys think?

Just use a Multi-Meter and check the switch. You can also check the wiring, BEFORE you start throwing parts at it.

I don't recall the service 4WD light coming on in the case of other TCCM failures. Wasn't in my case. I'm skeptical it's the TCCM but testing will confirm.

I tested the switch, I have 12.3v going into it and 10.6v coming out of it. Is the 10.6v high enough to work the TCCM?

10v at the motor is good. Not sure outside the switch tho.

Place the switch in 4X4 and check power at the leads of the shift motor harness to see if you are getting the 10v to the motor. If you do then the shift motor could be bad or corrosion. If no power trace to the TCCM and check right after the wire leaves the TCCM to verify a shorted wire. If everything is checks out and you are getting 10v to the shift motor then replace the shift motor.

There are some instructions you can follow with pictures in the 2002 Durango Service Manual http://www.mediafire.com/?fqnnjdzq252 on section 21-482 for the NV133 Transfer Case. There are also other Transfer Cases in that manual and they will be the same as yours (could be a wire color or 2 change). Look at the rear of the Transfer Case (about 3/4's up for a round tag to ensure which Transfer Case you have.
