Default 99 Durango Water Leak

Got a 99 Durango that while setting in the rain or snow melt, gets water in the rear floor storage compartment. Cargo area floor remains dry and shows no signs of water. Storage compartment liner gets wet and well holds water until you drain by removing the spare tire crank plug and drying out the compartment. Since cargo area stays dry I am guessing water is traveling behind rear interior trim panels from either the side window or rear hatch area. Looking for suggestions or know how on finding this leak and sealing.

Has the truck been in an accident ever? You can use a water hose and try the top of the hatch etc...water different areas then check for water..
There is seam sealer used at body points under the bumper cover, but try the hose first..

Open your rear hatch, and open the rear wiper fluid cover... I bet you will see that is FULL of water... If it is, remove most of the water, and try to remove the fill cup and clean the back of it... Between the cup and the car body, dirt will accumulate and start to leak through the seal for the cup...

Default 99 Durango water leak

Never been in a wreck. Washer resivoir is not full of water, did notice dirt collected at the back of it. Will check the seal where it goes thru the body.

I think the under hatch fill station reservior was only on the 1998 models before OEM moved it to the main reservior under the hood. I can't remember if it was only 1998 or not.... Please shead some light?

Yes, it is under the hatch. Am going to do a remove and seal today to take it out of the equation.
