Default 98 Durango starts rough when cold. Suggestions?

I have a 98 Durango (5.2) that's been starting rough when left out overnight. It almost acts like the cylinders are sticking during the initial turn over/firing because a couple of times it has actually seized. It always starts and runs fine the rest of the day, I only have the problem in the mornings. Does this sound like it could be the timing and/or bad starter? The vehicle has around 170K on it.

Starter but check your battery conections to ensure a good connection.

Here is instructions to replace it:

Starter Replacement on the 5.9L and 5.2L and Starter Diagnostic Techniques.
