I tested this theory and if went down in a ball of flames. The above mentioned "SET815 bearing" is for the 2wd ONLY! After tearing into the hub assembly with a hydraulic press it was found to be just that (an assembly). The bearings are custom made and the races are also built to be a mounting surface. With that said, there is no way to rebuild a hub assembly period!

The bearings themselves cannot be replaced
So the "SET815 bearing" does work on the 2WD w/ rear ABS?

Need to replace one of mine bearings/hubs, so I guess I can do a DIY of it if it'll work? Anyone have confirmation?

Also seems the SET815 is listed as a differential bearing.

$46.36, wow !!! Damn, that's not a bad deal at all. Unknown manufacturer, but 1 yr warranty and the low price should work.

Thanks for the link!

You didn't fully read the thread.

The SET815 bearing is for the 2WD versions and yes it will work for a 2WD, however a 4X4 front bearing CANNOT be rebuilt.

Right, I read where the decision went back and forth... yes it works, no it doesn't...

Wasn't sure which ended up being the finial answer. Plus there are two 2wd versions (if I remember correctly) with and without ABS.

Doesn't matter either way when, according to thorze's link, I can get replacements hub assemblies cheaper than just the bearings (not that I would necessarily get these, just another option).

Check prices on the 2wd.

If you have ABS then you must use ABS equiped sensors parts, however if you do not have ABS sensors then you can use either.

A 4X4 must be replaced as a whole assembly only.

Default Assembly doesn't fit?

Hi, I just got a front wheel bearing hub assembly for my 96 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4. Part number is 515006 and it is too big, it is sloppy around the spline and will not fit fully into the space it is supposed to. The hole it goes into is flared (is that normal) or did I destroy it too much? Anyone know a part number for this? I don't see any ABS to either the front or the rear wheels? I'm confused. Any help is greatly appreciated.
