Default 2002 Durango RT 5.9

Hi...

My Durango has a weird shift issue. It will hold to either 2800 RPM or 3500 RPM before up shifting. Only seems to do it if I've been driving for a while on the highway then stop for a set of lights and then continue or if I'm driving pretty aggressively.

Weird part is if I stop and put it in park then back in Drive it goes away.

Already replaced the
governor pressure sensor and governor pressure solenoid in the transmission as that was recommended in a reply from a previous post.

Any suggestions?

Is there such a thing as a reboot for the transmission control computer or a software reload? Someone suggested that it may be a software issue.

Thanks!

If you have the same transmission (i cant think right now) you could also need the to have the bands adjusted in your trans (suggested a dealer service).. Im kinda busy right now but if i get some time i'll try to give ya more info

Thanks,

I have the 46RE transmission.....I think this is the same for all 5.9s 1998-2003

If you have some more details that would be great.

Could be a pressure issue or adjustment issue.

Does the speedo dance around when it is holding the high RPMs without shifting? If so, I would diagnosis it as the pressure governor solenoid.

No its very steady to either exactly 2800 or 3500 RPM. We did the gov pressure solenoid a few weeks ago to try and fix the problem. Seemed better for a while but issues still there.

Have you manually turned the pressure down?
