I have driven my durango 02 5.9L 4X4 for four years in south dakota. I moved back to the south after i got out of the military and have started having some serious electrical problems.

For starters my headlights and tail lights do not work properly. When i switch them on sometimes they come on sometimes they dont. If they come on they stay on for a few minutes and start flashing intermittently. My Service 4X4 light is on, on the dash intermittently and the switch on the dash will not engage or disengage the Transfer Case. The power door locks will work sometimes and wont on other occasions. I need to at least get the light issue handled ASAP.

I am not a computer savy guy, but can fix a mechanical problem. This one has me near my wits end. Anyone have any advice for me to get this thing sqaured?

Well worse case scenario you could wire the headlights directly but then would you have tail lights? Now it sounds like you have some worn wires touching somewhere causing this or possible a PCM.

 

I figured the wiring to be the culprit, but i am beginning to think it could be some module somewhere. It started with the alarm system. It quit working then about two weeks ago the front AC vents quit working. Then the locks, lights, and 4X4 service light. Seems to me that something that controls all these things are coming apart at the seams. I checked every fuse in the rig, and came up with nothing.

I am going to run up to Auto Zone and see if it is throwing any codes.

 

everything was fine untill you relocated...
lets start simple easy...
anything different- modified -lighting- maybe an accident- new audio?..the alarm mentioned is it aftermarket? do you have a remote starteer?

have auto headlights - DRLs anything might need to add?

to get you started I advise you do the code check wont hurt, if there is a trailer tow harness check thst wiring for problems-

Sounds like a CTM to me has gone out. (Central Timing Module) and it has to be replaced then reflashed by the dealer. It's located in the drivers side kick panel and controls most all electrical issues. I though I've seen pre-flashed ones for sell on www.ebay.com but not sure.

Could also be a ground so check all grounds for very clean connections including dash panel to chassis ground, ALL OF THEM!

Ya thats what I meant to say was CTM and not PCM... Sorry about that, lost and confused at the time i guess, well in a way i am always like that lol.

+4, I'm late to the game, obvious CTM issues when you already know the answer.

jpratt, you are looking at about a little less than a $500 repair for parts and labor. The dealer needs to re-program your keyfobs to match the new CTM so take both of them with you. Same day repair, no need for an overnight stay in the dealer's repair shop. Just make sure they have the part before you go in to have it serviced.
