Hot time in Atlanta
I'm driving through downtown Atlanta yesterday pulling the camper. Making good time in the I-75 HOV lane. Suddenly, and without any indication from the dash that there is a problem, I lose power from the engine. All I get is a rough idle and misfire and no longer able to get any RPM's. I coast to a stop on the shoulder of the lane and see smoke coming from under the hood. Smells like electrical short then like buring fluids. I disconnect the battery and put out flares, call the fire department. We shoot dry chemical down behind the engine. Still smokes for over an hour. Finally DOT Emergency truck shoots FireAid liquid down there. Apparently it is a short that was close enough to the tranny to start fluid and insulation smoking. Thankfully, no flames. Now it sits at the local dealer awaiting determiniation from State Farm for repairs. I'll let you know what it was when it's fixed. SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL indy u must work for an insurance company because when something is mentioned about insurance ur on it..

if he has full coverage auto insurance (which includes comprehensive), it covers fire, theft, and vandalism.
I met with State Farm this morning and shared pictures of the 'event'. Not only were they sympathetic, they are also covering any damage under the comprehensive part of my policy at 100% (no deductible). It comes under fire damage. They were thankful that we kept the flames away by hitting it early with dry chemical and then FireAid liquid. The only thing that could go wrong now is if the repairs would exceed the value of the vehicle, which is around $3500 according to KBB. The dealer is starting the repair tomorrow. I can tell you this - having ample insurance coverage is very important. This is my first SF claim in over 20 years. When you need them - you need them.
