Default Aftermarket Exhaust

I am looking to replace the stock exhaust system on my Durango. It is a 2000 SLT with the 4.7 liter. I would like to keep it under $400 if possible. Anyone have any advice on which kit i should buy? I would like it to be loud and maybe give me a little more grunt and some MPG's.

thx. all suggestions welcome.

Hellow and welcome to the forum Sean!

You can always just replace you muffler if the rest of the pipes are good. Just buy a new muffler with a single inlet and outlet that at 2 1/2 inch piping and take it to your muffler shop and have them install it.

Let me suggest MagnaFlow http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8080 This is the same one I have in my truck but I have the 3" inlet and out let but other than that the same. They are a nice gunty sound but not loud and raspy like the Flowmaster's.

Hey, it says it fits, good enough for me! haha
Flowmaster Super 44's are REALLY LOUD. hahaha, so yeah, if thats what you want then def. go for it!
personally, I don't want my exhaust to be really loud, thus why I'm going for the magnaflows... a nice deep throaty sound, thats not too over the top.

If your into that really REALLY deep loud throaty exhaust sound, go with the flowmasters.

have fun!

edit:
also, if you want your engine to sound more deep and throaty and overall beastly, invest in a cold air intake. Either Custom made or official kit.
I made one for my 4.7L out of just some PVC pipe and a K&N filter, and DAAAMN! it sounds sooo nice, even without the exhaust!
Hydra also has a pretty sick set up for his Durango... so you might wanna take a look at that as well.
Best of luck and Enjoy!!

Referring to your website with the super 44 series.... I just got my muffler replaced and the guy there had some things to say about the 44. He said it was just basically an improved 40 series that cost a lot more. Also, it really isn't worth it IMO. The guy was like, I'm not gonna sell you it even though it would make me more money cause honestly i don't think it is worth that much extra. And I listened to the sound and it wasn't any louder than the 40, maybe a little smoother/quieter though, but hey its whatever you prefer.

Thanks Guys. Hydra recommends Magnaflow, he seeems to have a solution for everything Durango. I'm Kinda torn, I do NOT want it to be over the top. I just want some more bark and growl when I lay into it. Magnaflow or Flowmaster... screw it, I am an oregonian, what i should do is go buy a Prius! oh and if anyone gets worse than 8.6 mpg let me know bc i wanna meet you. Back to the topic, has anyone listened to a flowmaster and Magnaflow side by side?

I haven't heard them side by side, but i have heard a flowmaster on a dakota, and a magnaflow on a durango, and the flowmaster is louder.

My personal suggestion, would be to rig up a custom cold air intake, and then get the magnaflow muffler. You total cost should be under $400 total, and your car should sound pretty freakin sweet!

I dunno man, I'm finding myself REALLY drawn to the new styling.
...maybe I'll just get one of each!

Flowmaster Series 50 SUV.
NOT... the FM Series 50 Delta... the Series 50 SUV.

Avoid anything in the 40s. WAY to loud for anyone over the age of 21 or outside of the redneck areas of Kentucky & Tennessee.
