Newbie with questions
Hey all, just picked up a 2000 R/T with 79 k on it. All in all its not bad, but I do have a few"minor" glithces that I need some help on figuring out.
First, when you turn the heat on, there is a sound coming from the underside of the dash on the passenger side. It sounds like a vaccuum valve opening and closing. Any ideas what this could be?
Next, the gas mileage sucks! I know, if I wanted mileage, I should have bought a Prius! NOOO! What are some of the things that would help, i.e., cold air intake, plenum spacer....???
Thanks for any, and all input. Oh and ny the way, great site!!

Gas mileage in a 360 Cubic Inch that weighs over 4000 Lbs is going to suck, there is no way around it really unless you want to start doing engine mods such as notching the chamber, decking the heads, changing the quench area, and custom tuning the PCM if there is software available for the Durango, Im not sure if there is as I am new to Dodges.
I will probably be building a new longblock for my RT sometime within the next year and I will be incorporating some engine mods to improve the burn aspects of the chamber which will improve mileage and power.
Anyway back on track, you have a 5.9 gas mileage sucks, lol.

and the vents on these trucks are operated by vacume im not sure how loud yours is, but some noise from it is relatively normal of course if there is alot of extra noise you could have a vacume hose loose (check to make sure all the settings work properly and let us know what you do to the controls that make the noise happen
