Exclamation Update

Well since I've been gone so long I'll give you guys an update on what's been going on in my neck of the woods. I graduated with my AAS in diesel technology at the end of the summer semester and got my class A CDL a couple of weeks ago. I have been wrenching on the side through craigslist since nowone wants a "new" tech. I am going to be moving up to WA around mid Jan and will be working in a large shop for my brother. It is a very busy shop that specializes in electrical. I finally did something about my lousy stereo in the D and will be doing quite a bit of preventative maintenance this week (oil, tranny fluid, diff's, clean my K&N, plugs, cap, rotor, maybe wires)

Seriously! I can stop acting like I own a Durango and go back to my 89' Ford Escort DD. We have a pro in town now.

Welcome back to the land of the living, Good luck wih the move to WA and have the radiator checked out other wise you might be posting photos of your radiator smiling at you. DO NOT HAVE PEP BOYS CHECK IT OUT THOUGH. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Why would I need the radiator checked out? I just did a drain and refill this spring and all was well. I use a little coolant because I'm too lazy to address the small leak that I have. Not to mention the minor heater core leak (yes the one I just replaced ).

Nothing specific, I was just referring to my turmoil of getting out here from Washington DC area to Minneapolis and the radiator issues I had. No harm intended and definitely no ill will meant on your voyage. You were mentioning about going over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb before your trip. You are cool and have a safe drive.

Gotcha Magic, I am definitely gonna do my best to prevent catastrophic failure. It is only a 12 hour trip so I'm sure it will be fine. It looks like I may need a belt tensioner as well. It's getting a little wobbly and my belt looks like it's slapping around a little bit.

Well I did plugs, wires, cap, rotor, cleaned my TB yesterday. I was going to skip the wires due to $$$ but I found two corroded terminals on my cap when I pulled my wires and didn't want to transfer any of that funk to the new cap. I went with some MSD 8.5's. What a PITA those things turned out to be. They didn't come with straight boots and I had to go to Summit and pick up boots for an extra $20, the damned terminals wouldn't go into the new boots for anything. After I was routing my wires I also noticed another issue. The terminals were too big to latch onto the plugs. I had to take the pliers and a gentle touch to each of the terminas just to get them to grab on snug. One good thing though is that the D has never run better now that it is all done. Next week I'll being doing all of my fluids and be ready for this move to WA.
